We have commissioned one of the elite sporting statues sculptor Mr Sean Hedges Quinn who is a football fan himself, he is a an Ipswich season ticket holder and yes, the score 7-1 is often mentioned.
The full process involved in constructing a statue of this size involves many months of hard work. Hundreds of photographs and DVD footage will be pored over by Sean and he is renowned for his attention to detail.
Sean will, before the sculpture is started, talk with Lynne Turner wife of Chris about him. Not as a player but as a bloke, his characteristics and personality. He has already been told off by her when he put him in an overcoat in one impression of the statue design, she pointed out he hated coats like that! Only when she is happy with what he suggests will the project proper be started.
Sean explained at one of the launch nights the various issues that often arise and how he conquers them. A short recording of what he had to say will be posted on here soon.
