About Us

On April 27th 2015 a small part of anyone remotely POSH died as the passing of a true club legend Chris Turner was announced. Player, Captain, Manager, Owner and even commercial manager Chris was for many of us the greatest figure ever to be connected with our club. The second Chris entered a room he owned it and his charisma was such that the stories about the man abound from every football club, racetrack or restaurant he ever visited. After Chris finally succumbed to the horrible form of dementia that eventually managed to beat even the big man a small but dedicated group of lifetime POSH supporters got together with the sole intention of getting him honoured. The overwhelmingly popular choice was to get a life size bronze statue built outside what was Chris’ home for so many years London Road Stadium. Discussions swiftly took place with the football club and the city council with approval forthcoming and the committee got together to explore exactly what was required. One of the most talented sculptors in the country Sean Hedges Quinn was contacted. Sean has massive experience and amongst other statues is responsible for those commemorating Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey at Portman Road Stadium home of Ipswich Town, Ted Bates at St Marys Southampton and Bob Stokoe at the Stadium of Light Sunderland.
